Alsike Clover

Trifolium hybridum

Alsike Clover is a short- lived perennial clover that acts as a biennial. It is well adapted to cool climates and wet soils. It grows well in poorly drained soil and offers high forage quality, similar to alfalfa. It is ideal for hay production in areas of high precipitation or poorly drained soils and for short rotation pasture mixes. Alsike Clover will tolerate lengthy spring flooding and completely waterlogged soil. In these conditions, it can still provide red-clover quality forage for multiple years. Alsike Clover is well adapted to northern climates and cooler summers. It also has good winter hardiness. It does not tolerate shade.
