Phleum pratense
Timothy is a cool-season, short-lived perennial, sod forming grass that is native to Eurasia. It grows 2 to 4 feet tall, with light blue-green leaves, and a unique, spike-like seed head. Widely used to grow excellent horse hay. Used for pasture, forage, hay, mountain meadows mixes, ski slopes, roadsides, and mine reclamation. Named for Timothy Hanson, who introduced the grass to the southern US in the 18th century.
