Perennial Ryegrass
Lolium perenne
Perennial Ryegrass is a short-lived perennial, cool-season bunch grass that is native to Europe and Asia. This major turf and pasture grass grows from 6 to 24 inches tall, with a bunchy habit, and a classic, kelly-green color. Perennial Ryegrass is shade- and cold- tolerant, and is well suited to northern climates. It also germinates faster than any other major turf grass, making it valuable as a short-term stabilizer species. As a pasture species, it offers good forage and grazing resistance.
