Sheep Fescue

Festuca ovina

Sheep Fescue is a cool-season, long-lived perennial bunch grass native to high elevations in the northern Rocky Mountains and intermountain areas. This low growing grass grows between 3 and 12 inches tall, and is the most drought-, heat-, and cold-tolerant of the fine Fescues. While short, it is a highly valuable turf species due to its adaptability, durability, and native status.
