Short Beaked Sedge is a versatile, native, cool season, native perennial. It occurs in open areas including prairies, pastures, roadsides, open woodlands and low moist sites. Flowering occurs in mid to late May. Short Beaked Sedge is a common species found in soils wet year-round, such as the edges of ponds and lakes. It prefers full sun but is sometimes tolerant of shade. Useful for wetland and riparian restoration.
