Alkali Sacaton
Sporobolus airoides
Alkali Sacaton is a cool-season perennial bunch grass, native to much of western North America. It grows 1 to 3 feet tall, forming large clumps of shiny, cream-colored leaves, as well as deep roots and abundant rhizomes. Tough species, easily able to tolerate saline and alkali clay soils, grazing, and fire. Used for pasture, forage, hay, site stabilization, and mine land reclamation.
