Leymus cinereus
Basin Wildrye is a large, coarse, robust, perennial cool-season bunch grass that is native to much of western North America. It grows 3 to 10 feet tall, forming clumps of coarse, wide, flat leaves, and extensive coarse, deep roots. Used for pasture, forage, hay, site stabilization, reclamation, and wildlife cover. Stems were widely used as arrow shafts by Great Basin native peoples.
