Galleta is a warm-season, perennial, bunch or sod-forming grass native to western North America. It grows 1 to 2 feet tall, with short, pale-green leaves about the base, shallow roots, and thick, massive rhizomes. Thrifty species that thrives on wide variety of sites, from well drained soils to fractured, marginal rock lands. Used for range, forage, mine reclamation, and roads.
