Sand Bluestem
Andropogon hallii
Sand Bluestem is a native, perennial, warm season bunch grass native east of the Rocky Mountains. It grows 3 to 7 feet tall and looks very similar to Big Bluestem, but with conspicuous hairs on the panicle (seed head), a bluer color, and typically in a sandy habitat. Used for pasture, forage, wildlife cover, and landscaping. Especially valuable grass on sandy sites with erosion potential.
