Eragrostis trichodes
Sand Lovegrass is a short-lived perennial, warm-season bunch grass that is native to the Southern Great Plains. It grows 2 to 5 feet tall, with dark green basal leaves, and a unique panicle seed head bearing purple flowers. This gives the plant a showy, ‘purple haze’ type appearance. Performs best on deep, sandy soils. Used for pasture, forage, and hay, as well as sandy site mixes.
