Tufted Hairgrass is a clump-forming, cool season native perennial bunch grass that is native to western and northern North America. It grows 2 to 4 feet tall, forming a dense tussock of dark green leaves, with an open, airy panicle that gives it a hair-like appearance. Commonly used in northern or montane mixes at high elevation moist sites, ski slopes, mined lands, burned areas, and wildlife feed.
