Cameron Peak Fire Mix
This mix was formulated to address areas effected by the Cameron Peak Wild Fire. The species in the mixture are native, drought tolerant, livestock safe, grow aggressively and are quick to establish. The quick guard in this mix is excellent for use in erosion control. This mix is best at elevations between 6500′ and 9000′. The seeding rate is between 30 and 50 lbs. per acre.

Read More »PBSI Dry Native Mountain Mix
This mix was formulated for mountain parks and dry mountain slopes, including broad valleys and plateaus. The elevation ranges from 7,000’ to over 9,000’. The average annual precipitation is 8” to 16” and most of the moisture falls as snow in the winter. Much of the area is grass and shrubs with valley bottoms, aspen and cottonwood. The Dry Native Mountain Mix is adapted to dry mountain conditions and useful for restoration, forage and wildlife. It is also adapted for reclamation of roads, trails, pipelines and home sites. The sites have generally shallow soils, low precipitation and often south-facing slopes.

Our Dryland Aggressive Mix #1 is a combination of drought tolerant and adaptable grass species, ideal for an arid climate. This mix contains a mix of wheatgrasses, resulting in improved forage quality and quantity. This mix will thrive up to approximately 8,000’ elevation and produce excellent forage for decades under good management. On dryland, this mix can produce 1 to 2 tons of forage per acre, per year and can produce 2 to 5 tons per acre, per year on irrigated ground.

This mix was created for the transitional zone between the grasslands of the plains and the forest of the mountains along the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains. Elevation ranges from 5,000’ to 7,000’ and the average annual precipitation is 15” to 20”. Vegetation is a broad belt of short grasses and shrubs intermingled with scattered pine trees on the hillsides and willows and cottonwood trees along the streams. These grasses are adapted to medium-textured soils, as well as some of the shallower soils found in the area. The Foothills Native Mix is used for conservation, restoration, cover, forage, wildlife, and for homeowner lots in the foothills area.

PBSI’s Native Alkali Mix is a grass mix formulated for tough, alkali soils across the Great Plains. Several of the species in the mix – Alkaligrass, Alkaki Sacaton, Bottlebrush Squirreltail, Galleta, and Inland Saltgrass – are naturally bred to succeed on a wide variety of alkali sites. In addition to forage, this mix will also grow well in basic, low CEC, low-nutrient subsoil or road/pad spoil, making it especially valuable as a reclamation mix.

The Native Lawn Mix is a mix of warm-season buffalograss and blue grama, blended for an extremely drought-tolerant lawn that requires little water once established. Both grasses are native to the Colorado high plains and are adapted to our arid climate. Summer green up can be expected once soil temperatures reach 65 degrees, typically mid-May to early June. Do not use chemical methods of weed control during first growing season.
